Vision
UrCommunity aspires to help promote the rights of an appropriate standard of living for all Australians regardless of gender, age or ethnicity as articulated in Article 25.1. of the UN Declaration of Human Rights.
History of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights
On 10 December 1948, the UN General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The world having recently endured the horrors of World War 11, decided to put in place a road map to guarantee the rights of every individual everywhere. The final document consists of some 30 Articles which provide for rights for all persons and has been adopted by Australia as a signatory.
Article 25.1 - Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his/her control.
Article 27.1 - Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits.
Article 29.1 - Everyone has duties to the community in which alone the free and full development of his personality is possible.
